How to make this DIY home sign with wreath

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did! It was nice to wind down from a tiring work week and enjoy time at home with my loved ones.

Today I am going to show you how to make this simple DIY home sign. It can be done for less than $5 (not including wreath) and really makes your wall pop! I decided to sub the O out for a wreath which I thought made it a lot more fun because then you can change the wreath for each season to add to your seasonal decor!

Wall decor has always been my biggest struggle when it comes to decorating our house. But this piece was so effortless and cute that it was a no brainer for me to include it somewhere on our walls!

Here is what you need:

Step 1

Lay down some newspapers or something to protect the area you are using because staining can be very messy! I chose to do this on the grass outside on a newspaper so that I didn’t have to be too careful. Once you put your gloves on, take your foam brush and cover the surface of each letter. I personally just did the front and sides because I knew that the back wouldn’t show at all.

The color that I used was Rustoleum Aged Wheat but I am not finding it anywhere for some reason. But if you still aren’t sure which stain to use check out my blanket ladder post to see which one I used on it.

Step 2

Once you have covered the surface of each letter take your lint-free rag and wipe off the excess. I only did one coat because that is all that I wanted but you can do as many as you need to achieve the look you want.

Step 3

Let it dry for at least a few hours, or until they are dry to the touch, and then they are ready to hang! I found this wonderful faux wreath at Marshall’s, they always have a great selection! I think it really gives this little spot in our house the touch that it needed.

I do wish that I had discovered the stain that I used for my blanket ladder (pictured below) sooner because I love it so much! But at the time I was attempting to go for a weathered Gray look. Maybe if I get ambitious one of these days I will re-stain it. But I don’t see that happening in the near future with my ever-growing list of DIY projects. Either way it turned out great and I am very happy with it!

That’s all for this week, I hope to see you around next week! Have a lovely week friends!
