Hello friends! Can y’all believe that we are about 2 weeks away from Father’s day? Time is flying and needs to pump the brakes for a quick sec so I can catch up. The weather is finally nice and I don’t want it to go so fast!
While this post is supposed to be bright and cheerful I do want to say something really quick about everything that is going on in the world right now. I feel that it would be wrong if I don’t. I have always been someone who struggles to put exactly what I am feeling and thinking into words, so just bare with me.
I have taken the last week to reflect on the matters going on surrounding the black community; to listen, to learn and to pray. I decided to mute all of my content on Instagram through the 7th and join the ‘amplify melanated voices’ movement. I felt that this was the least I could do, the black community deserves to be heard now and forever.
I would in no way consider myself to be racist but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t things we could all be changing that are going on around us to stand up and fight the racial injustice that is happening every day. It’s time to make a change and to educate ourselves on what we can be doing to help. Below I have included some great resources that are a great place to start:

https://blacklivesmatter.com/
https://ip-no.org/
https://www.blackvisionsmn.org/
https://www.joincampaignzero.org/#vision
https://www.change.org/
There are so many different ways to make a change: Registering to vote, signing petitions, participating in PEACEFUL protests or vigils, donating, getting educated, taking note of racial injustice in your daily life and making changes, having tough conversations in your home, etc.
With all that being said, I have seen SO much hate this last week. This is supposed to be a time where people are coming together, not tearing each other apart. Just because someone isn’t posting on social media doesn’t mean they aren’t helping in some other way. Those people hating need to take that negative energy and put it into making a positive change in their community. Just like Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Hate doesn’t drive out hate, only love can do that”. Now is the time that we need to learn to be kind to others. Nobody is perfect but we can all help in our own ways!
Sorry for the little rant but I felt that it was important and even though I don’t have a huge following like many influencers out there, I hope I can help to make even a small change. Just know that I appreciate each and every one of you who follow along! Alright, I am done now.
